How to choose a good Driving Instructor

The best way to choose an Instructor, is by receiving a personal recommendation, which may be provided by a relative, neighbour, friend, or workmate, someone who have had a successful personal experience, when learning to drive with a particular Instructor.

You should check that your potential Instructor is a qualified Approved Driving Instructor with a green badge displayed on the vehicle.

All Instructors are graded according to their ability and should be prepared to divulge their grading, or show you a copy of their latest certificate, which will indicate their personal grading of either 4, 5, or 6, with Grade 6 being the highest possible.

The majority of Instructors are self-employed and work for themselves, which means that they are more likely to be dependant on their results, and have to be seen to be reliable, to enable them to earn a good reputation, which leads to them becoming successful in their business.

However, you should bear in mind, the fact that a number of smaller driving schools who are successful, often grow quite quickly and have several instructors working with them, which means that they may equally be able to provide you with just as good, if not better instruction, that some of the individual instructors. The choice is yours.
